This is a video clip of an encounter with large hail (golfball sized) while trying to beat the core of an HP supercell storm over Central
Oklahoma near El Reno. We head east, planning to go south, then back west to view the late afternoon storm from a better position. Our plan failed when the storm grew too
large too fast and pummeled us with strong winds and hail. We make a hasty retreat out of the storm and abort the penetration. The storm here was about 8 PM in the evening,
the sun sets after 9PM ... So it is dark because of the size of the storm, which had hail up to baseball sized (if we didn't turn around, it would have got much worse)!
