NATIONAL STORM-CHASER SUMMIT 2022

The storm chaser convention in 2022 took place from January 21 through the 22 in Midwest City, Oklahoma at the Reed Conference Center. This was a re-newed and great event that replaces the former "ChaserCon" event(s), thanks to the great efforts of Erik Fox and his group, passing on the legacy of Roger Hill and Tim Samaras from years prior.

This is a shot of downtown Oklahoma City during the weekend of January 21. The convention took place in Midwest City at the Reed Conference Center off I-40 about 8 miles east of downtown.

Chaser Scott Peake (Severe Studios) at the Vortex Awards giving a speech.
Chaser / structural engineer Tim Marshall. Tim has done an impeccable job in helping with tornado ratings and structural analysis of post-storm damage and research.
Tim Marshall dressed as Billy Crystal hosting the "Vortex Awards" for storm chaser achievements. Tim's accomplace was acting as former acress Brigitte Bardot in a humerous and thoughtful awards presentation along with a great key sppech of storm chase setups by Tim.
Here is myself accepting one of the "Vortex Awards" for catching 3 tornadoes three days in a row (May 22-24, 2021). The awards was hosted by Tim Marshall, dressed as "Billy Crystal", and gave out trophies for various storm chasing acheivements.
My "Vortex Awards" trophy ... Thanks Tim!
Other chasers in the lobby area (Melanie Metz is to the left) collaborating during the social / video presentations on Saturday night.
Researcher Bruce Lee talks about supercell dynamics, evolution, and how RFD and boundary interactions cause tornado-genesis. The video being presented here is my footage from May 23, 2008 near Quinter, Kansas (a link to that same video can be found HERE as well).
This is the "Dorothy" tornado probe portrayed in the 1996 movie "Twister" on display in the convention lobby area. Jim Tang is standing to the left, and Kathy Samaras (wife and mother of Tim and Paul Samaras, respectively, who fell victim to the 2013 El Reno tornado on May 31) to the right. The "Dorothy" tornado probe is on display at the Twinster Museum in Wakita, Oklahoma - Where much of the 1996 "Twister" movie was filmed.
One of veteran storm chaser David Hoadley's "Funnel Funnies" art from the old StormTrack publications. Obviously the storm chaser in this drawing is about to have a "bad day" chasing. David Hoadley's work and research is monumental in terms of art and storm chasing.
